Social and Health Policy Sciences

Principal Investigators:  Charlotte Waddell
Co-investigators:  Schwartz, C.
Funding:  Ministry of Children and Families (BC) Total:$1,550,440
Duration:  March 2006-March 2011

This project comprises the implementation and evaluation of a new research communication (or “knowledge translation”) intervention.  Building on our long-term research-policy partnership with British Columbia’s (BC’s) Ministry of Children and Family Development (MCFD), the Children’s Mental Health Research Quarterly is a new electronic publication compiling pragmatic systematic reviews of the best available research evidence in rigorous yet reader-friendly formats.  The aim is to foster evidence-informed approaches in policy and practice in order to benefit children.  The Quarterly is distributed through our website with supplementary education and policy consultation.  Policy partners are involved as partners in the design and implementation.  The Quarterly will be evaluated prospectively using qualitative and quantitative methods to assess the impact on policy-makers’ and practitioners’ ideas and behaviours over time
