FHS has faculty members from a diverse group of disciplines, and strong collaborative links within Canada and internationally. Additionally, the practicum provides opportunity to apply practical skills learned in the classroom, and gives the chance to make a real difference improving people's health.

I plan to continue my career in the public/environmental health field with a more thorough understanding of health promotion and disease prevention. Eventually, in the long term. I plan to go back to my home country, Senegal, to teach Public Health/Environmental Health at the university level.

My experience as an Environmental Health Officer with the Vancouver Island Health Authority (VIHA) has given me the opportunity to work on a variety of environmental issues in a unique atmosphere. Responsibility included: food safety, water protection, communicable disease, land use, etc…. I would go to bed each night with the satisfaction of knowing that what I do matters.
