BA in Health Sciences
I thought the faculty had a multifaceted appeal and integrative approach to health. The broad perspective in which various issues are presented to the student encourages them to consider all viewpoints to solve the problem. Being able to think outside the box and taking up a multi-perspective mindset allows students to understand solving real world health issues.
- What is your favourite Health Sciences course? Why? My favourite course is HSCI 160-Global Health. The interdisciplinary approach to solving global health concerns gave a clearer view of developing countries around the world. Working as a team to eradicate specific health problems was a fun and effective way to learn details one might not consider when studying the subject straight from the text.
- What advice would you like to give potential or incoming Health Sciences students about being Health Sciences students at SFU? My advice to FHS students is to consider a wide range of electives to better understand all aspects of health. The diverse nature of health issues makes different course electives all the more appealing in their own respect. Do not be afraid to ask questions and work together, as pooling your knowledge with those of your classmates to tackle a problem is exactly the skills needed in the real world. Become involved in the various FHS related events and talk with your professors to learn from their experiences and viewpoints. Participation and an open mind will bring out the best experience in FHS.
