Admission Requirements
Applicants to the Diploma in Global Health program who are recent graduates should have completed a baccalaureate degree in a discipline relevant to their area(s) of interest in the health sciences. Such disciplines would include the social and behavioural sciences, life sciences, and/or the quantitative sciences.
A minimum cumulative grade point average of at least 3.3 on grading scales similar to SFU's is normally required. Diploma applicants should have successfully completed a university-level undergraduate course in statistics or its equivalent. Diploma applicants with substantial experience as practitioners in health or a related field will be evaluated in part on their academic credentials and in part on their career accomplishments.
Factors influencing admission to the Diploma program include an assessment of whether the student’s educational and career interests are complementary to the strengths of the faculty, enrolment space, and the student’s specific preparation. Applicants should be able to demonstrate how their educational and/or career experiences have prepared them for their selected areas of concentration.
Meeting minimum program application requirements does not guarantee admission. Other factors influencing admission to the program include the number of students applying, their grades, and enrolment spaces.
The Faculty of Health Sciences admits students annually for each Fall semester. All applicants must meet the application deadline. Only complete applications are considered.
Applying from the FHS Diploma Program to the MPH Program
Diploma students may apply to the MPH program while in the FHS Diploma program. Diploma students must submit all required supporting documents to be considered for the MPH program. Meeting program application requirements does not guarantee admission to the program. Applicants from the Diploma program are subject to MPH application deadlines and admittance timelines. Credit for course work completed while in the Diploma program will be determined by the MPH Admissions Committee.
